What Coffee/Espresso Machines Use Nespresso Capsules?

Apart from the wide range of Nespresso machines available, sometimes other espresso maker brands team up to use the Nespresso’s capsule system in their machines. One of the most notable brand to do that is DeLonghi. In this post, we’ll share a few machines (Other than Nespresso’s) that are compatible with the Nespresso coffee pods.

These machines are compatible with Nespresso OriginalLine pods only, none of them will work with Vertuo pods.

Mixpresso Nespresso Compatible Machine

This compact espresso by Mixpresso makes a great, budget-friendly alternatives to models like Essenza Mini or Pixie. It has the same basic features of:

  • 19-bar pressure pump
  • water reservoir capacity of 27 oz

While the reservoir capacity feels small, it actually is about enough for several espresso or lungo servings. Keep in mind, these are small volume drinks so they don’t take a lot of water.

The build quality of Mixpresso’s isn’t the best. It is not, by any means, horrible, but Nespresso’s materials are better and sturdier. But if your goal here is to buy a budget-friendly machine and save some money, this model is a great pick for under $100 (as of the time of writing).

If your plan is to make milk based drinks, like lattes for example, you’ll want to pair this machine with an electric milk frother.

Breville Creatista Plus Espresso Machine

Nespresso Creatista

Creatista by Breville is a top of the line Nespresso compatible machine with features close enough to be a professional espresso maker. Available in three models, each with its own advantages, if you want a barista style latte or cappuccino, this is the machine for you.

What sets the Creatista line apart is the professional steam wand the machine is equipped with. It is the same as wands on larger, more professional espresso makers, but this one is more friendly for the home user and for beginners. To start, the machine actually automates the whole process of milk steaming and texturing, all you have to do is select the temperature and texture level you want. This guarantees a perfect result every time.

Another great thing about the Creatista is the preset recipes: lattes, macchiato, cappuccino, flat white and more… depending on the model you select. Simply select your recipe and the machine will guide you through the rest.

The Lattissima Pro by DeLonghi is another great pick for a Nespresso machine with an integrated milk frother. And this model has been a top pick among all DeLonghi Lattissima models.

The machine features DeLonghi’s famous milk frothing system. Although different from Breville Creatista’s, which creates micro foam froth, Lattissima’s automatically heats, froths and dispenses the milk based on your selected recipe.

The display screen on the Lattissima Pro features several ready recipes for espresso, lungo or milk based beverages. All you have to do is select your desired recipe and the machine will do the rest.

Can Nespresso Machines Use Other Pods?

The machines recommended above are compatible with Nespresso OriginalLine pods. Which means, you can use OriginalLine pods either from Nespresso or 3rd party brands. They wont’ be compatible with other pods like Keurig’s K-Cup pods, Dolce Gusto pods or even Vertuo pods from Nespresso.
